EU postpones negotiations on Georgia's accession due to law on foreign agents - media

The European Parliament will adopt a resolution on Georgia's law on foreign agents, recommending that the EU postpone the start of accession talks with Georgia while this law is in effect.

According to Ekho Kavkaza, four draft resolutions were initially submitted to the parliament, but a fifth version was developed before the debate began.

As of April 23, MEPs had approved the general text of the resolution, which is scheduled to be finally adopted on April 25.

Despite the proposals of some MPs, the resolution does not call for sanctions against Bidzina Ivanishvili, members of the Georgian Dream, or high-ranking police officers.

The document also contains no proposals to cut off funding to Georgia.
