Switzerland increases aid: 5 billion euros for Ukraine

The Swiss parliament has supported the allocation of 5 billion Swiss francs (equivalent to 5.5 billion US dollars) to help Ukraine as part of a package of measures to improve defense capabilities.

According to Reuters, the bill, which received support from representatives of the center-left and center-right parties, was approved by the security committee of the upper house of parliament.

Although the plan still needs to be approved by parliament, it already includes 10.1 billion francs for the needs of the Swiss army, including the amount for Ukraine.

At the parliamentary session, it was noted that this package is an extraordinary contribution to the country's security and "peace in Europe" in connection with the ongoing conflict over Russia's war with Ukraine.
