The US threatens to increase sanctions against China because of its support for Russia in the war in Ukraine

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken calls on China to refrain from cooperating with Russia in the war against Ukraine. This became known after Blinken's meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, NBC News reports.

The main purpose of Blinken's visit to China, according to American media, was to warn Beijing about supporting Russia's war against Ukraine.

Blinken emphasized that China's supply of Russian dual-use goods, such as machine tools and microelectronics, makes it the largest supplier to Russia's defense industry.

The US Secretary of State also said that without China's support, it would be difficult for Russia to invade Ukraine.

Blinken also noted that the United States may expand sanctions against China for helping Russia, pointing out that the United States has already imposed sanctions on more than a hundred Chinese organizations and export controls.
