Slovak Prime Minister on raising funds for ammunition for Ukraine: "It's like farting into a tree"

In an interview, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico commented on the fundraising organized by the country's residents to buy ammunition for Ukraine: "It's like farting into a tree."

The website of the Ammunition for Ukraine initiative says that Slovaks have already raised 4 million euros.

Fico said that people have the right to do what they see fit with their money. However, this "will not change the situation."

"Do you know what the Czechs say? It's like prd do Stromovky (can be translated as "farting into a tree"). Sorry for the expression, it's symbolic," the prime minister said.

Moreover, he said that the aid to Ukraine from the USA and the European Union would not affect the situation on the battlefield either.

"In a year or two, the same thing will happen - all the money will be spent, maybe some of it will be stolen, but nothing will change in Ukraine, and we will be where we are now. This is my position. That is why I still prefer a peaceful solution, a ceasefire at any cost," Fico said.

In his opinion, Slovaks think that "bullets and bombs are more important than helping cancer patients in Slovakia".

"If we said today that let's do a collection for cancer patients, we probably wouldn't raise that much," Fico said.
