The Ukrainian authorities are not considering a complete blocking of Telegram. This was stated by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Freedom of Speech Yaroslav Yurchyshyn during a telethon.
He believes that the problem of state security lies not in the messenger itself, but in public channels that spread "Russian propaganda, misinform and threaten the security of Ukrainians." That is why MPs want to close such channels.
"A channel can be anonymous, why not? But as long as it does not spread Russian propaganda. If the channel does not spread harmful information, then there are no claims to it, it can exist,” he explained.
According to the MP, the committee does not say that the messenger should be banned entirely. But those who spread "harmful content should bear responsibility for it." That is why the authorities want to know the names of the owners of these channels and insist on blocking them.
