The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) reported on the disruption of an attempt by the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) to carry out a terrorist attack against the President of Ukraine and other senior officials. Two colonels of the Administration of State Guard of Ukraine were found guilty of treason and aiding and abetting this crime.
According to SBU representatives, counterintelligence and investigators took control of the FSB's plans to eliminate the President and other members of Ukraine's top military and political leadership. The disclosure of the conspiracy became possible due to the actions of the special services, which timely identified and terminated the activities of the FSB agent network, with which two colonels of the ASG board promised to cooperate. This network was aimed at developing and implementing plans to eliminate President Zelensky and other leaders of the country.
The accused colonels provided confidential information to the Russian FSB and prepared the means to commit a terrorist act. One of them received unmanned aerial vehicles and ammunition from FSB agents for use in a planned attack on Ukrainian officials.
The actions of the defendants were detected and stopped by the law enforcement agencies of Ukraine, which helped to avoid a tragedy.
Both detainees were arrested, and searches of their residences revealed items and documents confirming their involvement in criminal activity.
