Ministry of Energy: Ukraine is considering raising electricity tariffs

The government does not rule out the possibility that electricity tariffs may rise in Ukraine. This option is being discussed because resources are needed for the next heating season. This was stated by Deputy Energy Minister Svitlana Grynchuk during a telethon.

“We are discussing, among other things, tariff increases. We are analyzing all the financial resources available to us, including the assistance provided by our partners, declared by them, and which will be provided in the near future. We are analyzing the capabilities of our energy companies, in particular, we are discussing the possibility of raising tariffs,” Grynchuk said.

The Deputy Minister emphasized that the decision to raise electricity tariffs has not yet been made. But she does not rule out that the government may have to raise the tariff to have the resources to prepare for the next heating season.

“Now, unfortunately, with the damage that has been done, a significant deficit is expected during the next heating season. Then there may be power outages for household consumers. We are trying to find and implement solutions that will mitigate these consequences in winter,” added Grynchuk.
