Spain will send military aid to Ukraine worth $1.23 billion - El Pais

Spain plans to send a $1.23 billion military aid package to Ukraine, which will include missiles for Patriot systems and Leopard tanks. This is reported by El Pais, citing unnamed sources.

It is reported that this is an “unprecedented cost” of Spain's military aid not only to Ukraine but also to any other country.

According to the publication, Ukraine will receive a dozen critical Patriot anti-aircraft missiles and 19 used Leopard 2A4 tanks made in Germany, as well as other Spanish-made weapons, including anti-drone weapons and ammunition.

The new arms supply commitments are expected to be announced during Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's official visit to Madrid, where he will meet with Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez and King Felipe VI.

The visit itself will take place today, according to the Spanish government's website.
