Chief of the AFU: Russia is building up groups in the Kharkiv direction

Russian troops continue to build up a grouping of troops in the Kharkiv direction. This was stated by the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi.

According to him, the enemy is redeploying additional regiments and brigades from other directions and training grounds to the main area of its attack, Strileche - Liptsi and the area of Vovchansk.

“However, these forces are not enough for a full-scale offensive and breakthrough of our defense. In addition, the enemy's actions are complicated by the strengthening of our defense through timely decisions to redeploy reserves to threatened areas. The creation of the ammunition reserve also ensured effective defeat of the enemy and reduction of its offensive capabilities,” Syrskyi said.

In this regard, the Russians switched to the tactics of hitting Ukrainian positions with artillery fire and strikes with guided aerial bombs. The Chief of the AFU noted that in these circumstances, the destruction of Russian bomb-carrying aircraft, reconnaissance drones and fire controllers, protection of defense forces with electronic warfare, as well as camouflage and the use of mock-ups are of primary importance.

“Of course, these are not new issues, but they are very urgent, and the lives of our soldiers and the sustainability of our defense directly depend on their solution. Therefore, first of all, we are taking urgent measures to improve the air defense control system, its automation and combination with ground forces' firepower in conjunction with the electronic warfare system,” added Syrskyi.
