Norway considers it necessary to give Ukraine the right to use Western weapons to strike Russia. This was stated by Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide in an interview with NRK.
Eide emphasized that according to international law, Ukraine can attack Russian territory in self-defense.
He noted that Ukraine should be able to use Western weapons against military targets related to the war in Ukraine, and that restrictions on this issue only make it more difficult for Ukraine to win.
The minister also noted that strikes against Russia are “quite normal” and that Ukraine “cannot be forced to fight with one hand behind its back.”
According to him, the Ukrainian Armed Forces should be able to wage war in the most effective way for them. If Russian troops attack Ukraine from Russian territory, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have the right to respond to these attacks.
