German Chancellor ruled out NATO intervention in Russia's war against Ukraine

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has ruled out NATO participation in the war that Russia is waging against Ukraine.

This was reported by Spiegel.

"We will not interfere militarily. This applies to NATO, it will not do so, as well as everyone else. That would be wrong in this situation," Scholz said Wednesday during his first visit to Israel.

"What we do is support," the chancellor clarified, mentioning financial and humanitarian aid.

The sanctions are already having an effect, he said: "I think these are the right decisions."

He said he would work to ensure that peace talks between Russia and Ukraine continue in the near future.

"Of course, now it's about diplomacy getting a great chance again," Scholz said. At the same time, he again called on Russia to stop all military action immediately.

"The attacks on civilian infrastructure and civilians must stop," he said.
