Estonian Defense Minister Kalle Laanet is convinced that Ukraine will win the war, while for Russia the war should end in real defeat, writes ERR.
"I think that Ukraine will come out of this war a winner. Why do I think so? Because the Ukrainians have demonstrated incredible fighting spirit and ability to resist. In addition, the West finally realized that Ukraine was fighting not only for itself, but for us as well. Of course, the Putin-controlled army and himself made a lot of mistakes before the invasion," Laanet said.
According to him, Russian troops may have enough weapons, but the question is what condition they are in.
In addition, the position of Western countries on the issue of aid to Ukraine has changed significantly, the defense secretary noted.
"If all Western allies say that Ukraine must win this war, the question for me is, then why are we dragging it out? Let's provide sufficient weapons systems training so that there are as few civilian casualties as possible. That is, we need to end this war as soon as possible. Not by diplomacy. The Russians should simply be forced out of Ukrainian territory," Laanet said.
