EU releases Hungary from oil embargo against Russia

The EU embargo on Russian oil imports will not affect Hungary. An agreement has been reached.

This was announced by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban on Facebook.

Earlier, Hungary blocked the initiative on the Russian oil embargo.

"The agreement has been reached. Hungary is exempted from the oil embargo," Orban wrote.

Recall, EU leaders reached an agreement to ban imports of more than two-thirds of oil from Russia.

Also at the summit in Brussels they agreed to disconnect Sberbank from the international system of financial messaging SWIFT, a ban on the broadcasting of three more Russian state media and the expansion of personal sanctions against the Russians.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky earlier criticized the EU for the fact that the sixth package of sanctions against Russia has not yet been implemented when he addressed the EU heads of state and government.
