The White House announced that it would transfer additional HIMARS to Ukraine

Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said at a briefing that the U.S. will announce a new package of military assistance to Ukraine this week.

"We will continue to provide historic levels of security assistance to Ukraine. Later this week, the administration will announce a new aid package with military equipment for Ukraine. This will be the 16th such package in support of Ukraine since the beginning of Joe Biden's presidency," he said.

The official noted that the new aid package will include additional HIMARS systems, "which the Ukrainians have used very effectively to change the situation on the battlefield," as well as additional projectiles for multiple rocket launchers and artillery.

The Ministry of Defense named the number of HIMARS systems required for an effective counterattack.
