Sijarto announced the weakening of the EU due to the war in Ukraine - the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine responded

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, Peter Szijarto, said that Russia's war against Ukraine allegedly weakened the European Union. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry responded sharply, reminding Szijarto that Hungary will not be able to sit back and wait out the war. This was stated on Facebook by the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Oleg Nikolenko.

The Hungarian minister believes that the war in Ukraine has led to a catastrophic weakening of Europe and the European Union.

"We have to tell the truth that EU leaders failed to protect people in Europe from paying for a war for which they are not responsible at all," Sijarto stressed.

At the same time, Nikolenko noted that the truth is that the weakening of the EU is caused by Budapest's attempts to destroy internal unity.

"No one should forget: Ukrainians pay with their lives so that people in other parts of Europe do not see the horrors of war. Russian aggression is a hybrid. It is not limited to the military component. The Russians attack Ukrainian cities and villages with cruise missiles and tanks, and the countries "The EU - skyrocketing gas prices and propaganda. We will remind that Russia started blackmailing European consumers with the supply of energy resources and a high price tag as early as November 2021 - three months before the start of a full-scale invasion of the territory of Ukraine," he said.

He also noted that Russia's attack on Ukraine is an attack on the entire democratic world, democratic values, the right to be oneself and to independently determine one's future.

"It is useless to hope that you will be able to sit down; to pretend that what is tearing your neighbor to pieces does not concern you. This cannot be so, if only because there are more than 150,000 Ukrainians of Hungarian origin living on the territory of Ukraine, whose care is systematically emphasizes Budapest. History will put everything in its place. The names of those who were on the side of good and those who were on the side of evil will be written in textbooks," added Nikolenko.
