Britain is considering the possibility of supplying Ukraine with British Challenger 2 tanks for the first time to fight the Russian invaders. Negotiations on the supply of several units of tanks have been underway for several weeks. This was stated by a source familiar with the negotiations, reports Sky News.

 The publication notes that the transfer of British tanks would mark a significant increase in Western support for Ukraine and could encourage other NATO allies, particularly Germany, to follow suit.

 "This encourages others to give tanks," the publication's source said.

 Rishi Sunak's government has not yet made a final decision, but if the UK signs a contract for such supplies, it will be the first country to respond to a request by Ukrainian leaders to equip Harmia with powerful Western tanks.

 One of the publication's sources suggested that Great Britain could offer about 10 Challenger 2 tanks - enough to equip a squadron.
