Ukraine expects to receive about 100 Leopards from allies: ABC News has learned the condition

Western countries plan to transfer about 100 Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine, if the German authorities allow such deliveries.

An unnamed Ukrainian official told ABC News about it.

According to him, such agreements on tanks were reached during the meeting in the Ramstein format, which took place on Friday, January 20.

The official reminded that Poland and Finland have already publicly declared their readiness to transfer tanks to Ukraine. At the same time, Spain, the Netherlands and Denmark are ready to participate in the deliveries, but this requires the consent of Germany.

He noted that the German "Leopards" are currently critically needed by Ukraine, since ammunition stocks for Soviet tanks are already running out, and our country cannot manufacture them.

The official also said that one of the turning points in the issue of possible deliveries of Leopard to Ukraine was Britain's decision to hand over Challenger 2.

"It became realistic after the decision in Great Britain. British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace broke through that wall," he added.

We will remind, earlier in the mass media there was information that US President Joe Biden is ready to transfer 10 Abrams tanks to Ukraine in order to convince Germany to start supplying Leopard.
