The situation at the ZNPP can be resolved only on the condition of the complete withdrawal of Russian troops and equipment - EU statement

The situation at the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant can only be resolved if Russian troops and equipment are completely withdrawn. This is stated in the statement published by the EU on the website of the European External Affairs Service.

In the statement of the EU dated March 2, 2023, published at the behest of the OSCE, it is noted the condemnation of the Russian aggression in Ukraine, and, in particular, the concern about the situation around the ZNPP.

"We are deeply concerned about the recent explosions near the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) and Russia's continued actions regarding its illegal occupation and control of the facility. The situation can be resolved only by the complete withdrawal of Russian troops and equipment from the territory. We emphasize again that Russia's irresponsible nuclear rhetoric is completely unacceptable. We support the efforts of the International Atomic Energy Agency to strengthen nuclear safety and security in Ukraine, including through the permanent presence of IAEA experts and the cessation of all hostilities at and around the ZNPP and the surrounding infrastructure," the statement said.
