The IAEA submitted a report on the results of the mission at the ZNPP: main conclusions

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) presented a report on the results of an inspection of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant in Energodar. Since March, the facility has been under the control of the Russian occupation forces, which worries not only the authorities of Ukraine, but also the world community.

A 52-page report titled "Nuclear Safety and Safeguards in Ukraine. Second Summary Report of the Director General" was published on the IAEA website.

 The main conclusions:

The situation is unprecedented. This is the first case of a military conflict at large nuclear power plants. A nuclear accident can have serious consequences domestically and abroad.

It is vitally important that the permanent presence of the IAEA at the ZNPP is established. This will be of primary importance for stabilizing the situation.

Specialists of the mission will carry out detailed and continuous work on the assessment of physical damage to the station's facilities, determining the operability of the main and backup security and safety systems, as well as assessing the working conditions of the personnel.

The IAEA has a specific and detailed technical plan for providing assistance in the field of safety and security. In particular, the delivery of equipment to the Zaporizhzhya NPP began.

To prevent an accident, measures such as the immediate establishment of a nuclear safety zone must be taken. The IAEA is ready to immediately start consultations for the urgent creation of a corresponding zone.
