The Council of Europe removed Ukraine from the black list of countries that destroy the fight against corruption

The Council of Europe's Group of States Against Corruption (GRECO) welcomed progress in preventing corruption against members of parliament, judges and prosecutors in Ukraine.

This is stated in the report published on Friday.

The report assesses the progress made in implementing the recommendations made to the country in 2017 to prevent corruption among members of parliament, judges and prosecutors.

GRECO concluded that Ukraine had made some improvements, implementing 15 of the 31 recommendations satisfactorily or satisfactorily. Of the remaining recommendations, nine were partially implemented, and seven were not implemented at all.

"Wartime has necessitated the introduction of a military, state of emergency and adjustment of priorities. In this context, it is noteworthy that Ukraine, however, continued work on the implementation of GRECO's recommendations. Even if the work is still ahead, as indicated in this report, Ukraine's timely submission of information to GRECO, as well as the achieved progress deserve high praise," the report says.

GRECO concludes that the current level of implementation of the recommendations is no longer "globally unsatisfactory", as it was after the previous report published in April 2022.

The group asked Ukraine to provide a report on the measures taken to implement unimplemented recommendations by March 31, 2024.

"Europeyska Pravda" analyzed the report and it states that the GRECO session approved the removal of Ukraine from its black list of states where structural changes are taking place that destroy anti-corruption, or those where the state of anti-corruption is "globally unsatisfactory."
