Ukraine is preparing for a counteroffensive: heavy equipment and trained fighters are needed, - Reznikov

Defense forces are preparing for a counteroffensive operation, so Ukraine needs heavy equipment and prepared reserves.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense.

Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov met with the delegation of the EU Committee on Policy and Security headed by Delfina Pronk.

Reznikov informed the European allies about the current state of the situation on the front line, in particular in the northern, eastern and southern directions. He paid particular attention to the provision of assistance to the Defense Forces from the EU and the professional training of military personnel abroad.

He thanked foreign partners for the EU's solidarity with Ukraine since the first days of the full-scale invasion and for providing assistance in the political, economic, military and humanitarian spheres.

"Thanks to the supply of Western weapons, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are successful on the battlefield. However, we are preparing for a counteroffensive operation, so Ukraine needs, first of all, heavy equipment and prepared reserves. We are interested in conducting training of the Ukrainian military at all levels: from individual training of soldiers to collective exercises of units brigade level," said Reznikov.

The minister emphasized that Ukraine is looking forward to the upcoming Vilnius NATO summit, which should prove that the country is not only a reliable partner of the Alliance, but also a state that has well studied the Russian aggressor and knows how to fight against it.

"The main threat to NATO is Russia. And only Ukraine knows in practice how to fight the enemy of the entire civilized world. Therefore, our state's acquisition of membership in the North Atlantic Alliance and the European Union is one of the key elements of a strong system of international security architecture," he emphasized.

We will remind you that Reznikov reported that Ukraine is preparing for a spring counteroffensive, which may begin in April-May.

At the same time, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba noted that the partner countries should not consider the upcoming spring counteroffensive of the Armed Forces decisive.
