25 thousand troops are to be sent to Niger

African states are going to send a contingent of 25,000 troops to Niger to restore President Bazoum's power, RFI reports.

Most of the troops will be provided by Nigeria, while the rest will be provided by Senegal, Benin and Côte d'Ivoire.

The ECOWAS plans have received support from the US and EU, but it is hoped that an agreement will be reached through negotiations.

Representatives of the African Union, ECOWAS and the UN will travel to Niger to negotiate with the coup organizers.

It should be recalled that there is currently a military presence of French and American on the territory of Niger.

Recently, US Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland visited the country. Perhaps this was one of the last attempts to find a solution to the conflict without the use of military force.
