The General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency has approved a resolution to immediately return Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant to full control of Ukraine. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.


As reported, during the 67th session of the IAEA General Conference, 69 countries supported the resolution on nuclear safety in Ukraine. It was proposed by Canada, Finland and Costa Rica.


It also calls on the Russian Federation to immediately withdraw all military and other unauthorized personnel from ZNPP and return the plant to full control of the competent authorities of Ukraine in accordance with the existing license issued by the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine, ensuring safe and secure operation of the plant so that the IAEA can implement effective and efficient implementation security guarantees in accordance with Agreement of Ukraine on Comprehensive Guarantees and Additional Protocol.


"We are grateful to our partners, to each country for their vote in support of compliance with the guarantees of nuclear and radiation safety. Ukraine's admission to the IAEA Board of Governors and the adoption of a resolution calling for the return of our ZNPP under Ukrainian control is proof that the civilized world is with us," said Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Galushchenko.


He also thanked IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi for the efforts made by the agency to resolve the situation around the occupied ZNPP.
