Consideration of aid to Ukraine in the US House of Representatives suspended due to resignation of Speaker

The US House of Representatives will temporarily suspend consideration of new aid to Ukraine until a new speaker is elected, following the resignation of Republican Kevin McCarthy. This was reported by Ukraine's Ambassador to Washington Oksana Markarova.

Markarova noted that Republican McHenry will be acting speaker, and the House will not be able to vote on laws until a new speaker is elected. The work of the House will resume no earlier than October 10, when potential candidates for the post of speaker will be discussed.

The diplomat noted that the Embassy of Ukraine will continue to interact with all branches of the US government to continue military and financial support for Ukraine.
