Downing of A-50 and Il-22 aircraft may delay missile attacks from occupants, - Humeniuk

The damage and downing by the Ukrainian Defense Forces of the Russian occupiers' A-50 radar detection aircraft and the Il-22 air command post over the Sea of Azov may postpone future missile strikes by the invaders. This was reported by the spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces of Ukraine Natalia Humeniuk during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine - Ukrinform.

"We have recorded the downing of two aircraft. And not simple aviation units, but those that were deployed with the relevant command posts," noted the colonel.

The spokesperson explained that the A-50 aircraft served as the enemy's "eyes", because with the help of "this particular machine and equipment that provided for its activities", the occupiers were observing the territory of Ukraine, and the aircraft was "guiding powerful missile strikes".

"And it was with the help of the A-50 that the situation with future targets was exposed to the maximum extent possible. Therefore, we expect that such a strike will be quite sensitive and will at least postpone future missile strikes," Humeniuk said.

Earlier we reported that the Ukrainian military showed footage of the last flight of the Russian A-50 aircraft, which was shot down in the Sea of Azov on January 14 along with the Il-22. This was stated by the Southern Defense Forces of Ukraine.
