Since the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine, the Russian army has lost about 315,000 people in killed and wounded. Two-thirds of Moscow's tank stocks have been destroyed. This was stated by CIA Director William Burns, Foreign Affairs reports.

Burns said that "the war has already been a failure for Russia on many levels."

"Its original goal of capturing Kyiv and subjugating Ukraine has proven to be foolish and illusory. His army has suffered huge losses. At least 315,000 Russian soldiers have been killed or wounded, two-thirds of Russia's pre-war tank stockpile has been destroyed, and Putin's vaunted ten-year military modernization program has been reduced to nothing," he said.

At the same time, Burns believes that Putin is rebuilding Russia's defense production - with the help of crucial components from China, as well as weapons and ammunition from Iran and North Korea - and continues to bet that time is on his side, that he can crush Ukraine and exhaust its Western supporters.
