Former Supreme Court Chief Justice Knyazev is removed from justice

The High Council of Justice (HCJ) has temporarily suspended former Supreme Court Chief Vsevolod Knyazev from the administration of justice. This was reported at a meeting of the High Council of Justice.

"On February 2, 2024, the High Council of Justice received a petition from Deputy Prosecutor General, Head of the SAPO Klymenko dated February 1, 2024, for the temporary suspension of Chief of the Supreme Court Vsevolod Sergiyovych Knyazev from the administration of justice in connection with criminal prosecution," the speaker said during the meeting.

According to him, the circumstances outlined in the above-mentioned motion are confirmed by the evidence collected during the pre-trial investigation.

"By continuing to administer justice, Knyazev may unlawfully obstruct the criminal proceedings in other ways. In particular, it is stated that given the extensive experience of Knyazev as a judge, he is well aware of the forms and methods of work of law enforcement agencies, which relate to the methods and procedure for collecting evidence in criminal proceedings," the speaker quoted the motion, stating that Knyazev may interfere with the work of pre-trial investigation bodies.

As a result, the High Council of Justice temporarily suspended Knyazev from the administration of justice until April 6, 2024.
