Ex-head of the Supreme Court Vsevolod Knyazev's suspension from justice extended

The High Council of Justice has decided to remove former head of the Supreme Court Vsevolod Knyazev from the administration of justice. This is stated in the HCJ's statement.

According to the HCJ, Knyazev will not be able to administer justice until the court verdict in his case comes into force or until the case is closed.

The petition filed by prosecutors argued that if Knyazev administers justice, he may personally or indirectly influence witnesses or other participants in the criminal proceedings, as well as obstruct the criminal proceedings in other ways.

As a reminder, on January 31, the former head of the Supreme Court was released from the pre-trial detention center on bail. On February 6, the HCJ decided to temporarily suspend Knyazev, a decision that was to be in effect until April 6, 2024.
