Cabinet of Ministers launches "Ukrainian Shield": Shmyhal promises more weapons, missiles and more

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved the Action Plan for 2024. This is one of the key documents for the work of the government and central executive authorities. This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during a government meeting.

According to him, the government's action plan includes almost 450 tasks. These are draft laws, programs, and resolutions.

"The first priority remains unchanged - defense capability and security for our citizens. This is the Ukrainian Shield program," he said.

According to Shmyhal, all internal resources are being directed to strengthening defense.

"More weapons and equipment. More drones. More missiles. More shells. Defensive borders are equipped," the Prime Minister said.

Shmyhal said that among the important tasks are the localization of production and repair of weapons and equipment, the creation of a special regime for defense companies, benefits and state guarantees.

"We rely on the private sector. We bet on new technologies and developments," he added.

The government is also planning humanitarian demining. "We are increasing the number of units and the number of pyrotechnics of the State Emergency Service by at least 200 people. We are creating a market for humanitarian demining. We will compensate for the costs of demining agricultural land," said Shmyhal.

In the area of cooperation with NATO, systemic changes and implementation of NATO standards in all areas, from procurement to management, are envisaged.

"Public safety. We are improving it at all levels. We continue to build shelters. In 120 communities, we will have security specialists in the educational environment. The system of emergency assistance to the population will work throughout Ukraine," the Prime Minister added.
