There are no preparations to increase electricity tariffs - Ministry of Energy

There is no preparation to increase electricity tariffs, and the information spread in the media is not true. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy.

"Today, a number of information resources have once again spread information about the alleged preparation by the Ministry of Energy to increase electricity tariffs. We would like to inform you that no preparations, discussions or calculations of a potential increase are currently underway. All statements in this regard are fake news aimed at destabilizing public sentiment," the Ministry said.

In addition, Deputy Energy Minister of Ukraine Svitlana Hrynchuk said during a forum dedicated to the end of the heating season that the issue of raising utility tariffs for the population is not even being discussed in the government, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

At the same time, Hrynchuk noted that after the government lifted the moratorium on disconnecting consumers who are in arrears for energy on December 29 last year, the level of payments for energy increased.

The ministry emphasized that the efforts of all energy companies, whose activities are coordinated by the Ministry of Energy, are aimed at successfully completing the heating season and starting equally thorough preparations for the next one.

Earlier, regional media reported that experts predict a doubling of electricity tariffs, and Ukrainians may pay UAH 4 for electricity this summer instead of UAH 2.64 per kWh.

It is worth noting that a similar rumor about an increase in electricity tariffs was already circulated in November 2023. At that time, the Ministry of Energy called it the Russian IPSO.
