New massive attack was aimed at the Ukrainian energy sector: details

On the night of March 29, the Russian army attacked three thermal power plants of the Ukrainian energy company DTEK: there was damage and a power engineer was injured. This was reported by the company's press service.


According to DTEK, the shelling severely damaged the equipment of the TPPs. After the attack, the power engineers promptly started to eliminate the consequences.


According to preliminary information, a power engineer was injured and was provided with the necessary assistance.


Ukraine's Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko said that this massive attack was aimed at the Ukrainian energy sector. 


"This time, the enemy is attacking facilities in Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava and Cherkasy regions," said Energy Minister Galushchenko.


According to him, the target of the attack with drones and missiles was, in particular, generation facilities (i.e., power plants).

 

 

In addition, the Energy Ministry reported that Russians attacked energy facilities in Dnipropetrovsk, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, and Ivano-Frankivsk regions.


"Thermal generation facilities were shelled in Dnipropetrovsk region. The enemy also attacked a power facility in Ivano-Frankivsk region, causing damage to equipment. As a result of attacks on generation facilities in Dnipropetrovsk, Cherkasy and Kirovohrad regions, equipment was damaged," the statement said.


It should be noted that Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said that ten Ukrainian regions were under attack during the night attack. 


"The enemy attacked energy infrastructure, civilian facilities, and private homes with missiles and drones. In total, ten regions were under attack. Six people, including a child, asked for help immediately after the strikes. About ten private houses were destroyed and dozens more were damaged," he said.
