Rada votes in first reading to increase responsibility for war crimes

The Verkhovna Rada has adopted as a basis  the draft law No. 10379 "On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine on Certain Issues of Military Service, Mobilization and Military Registration." The document was supported in the first reading by 254 MPs. This was reported by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak.


Thus, according to the comparative table, the draft law provides for a fine of 500 to 1000 tax-free minimum incomes for violation of the rules of military registration by conscripts, persons liable for military service and reservists.


At the same time, it is proposed to fine both ordinary citizens and officials for violating the legislation on defense, military duty and military service, mobilization training and mobilization. Fines are envisaged in the amount of 2 to 5 thousand tax-free minimums (UAH 34-85 thousand). For these violations during the special period, it is proposed to fine in the amount of 9 to 12 thousand rubles (153,000 to 204,000 UAH).

 

The comparative table to the draft law also contained an amendment on criminal liability for evading conscription for military service during mobilization for a special period, for military service by conscription of persons from among the reservists during a special period. This also included refusal to undergo a medical examination. However, during the meeting in parliament, it was stated that the amendment, which provided for 3 to 5 years in prison, was rejected and removed from the bill.
