Zheleznyak: National cashback is a mechanism for tracking all transactions of Ukrainians for the tax service

MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak said that the tax service wants to have the opportunity to track all transactions of Ukrainiansof Ukrainians by introducing a national cashback. He considers this idea “the most stupid, empty, senseless even in peacetime.”

“In order to receive cashback from the state, a person must ‘attach’ one of their bank cards in Diia and give the state permission to see all transactions from it. Let me explain - this is the ability of the tax service to see all transactions without restricting bank secrecy,” Zheleznyak said.

The Ukrainian cashback program provides for a refund to the buyer of part of the funds paid for goods produced in Ukraine. It should be noted that this idea was voiced by Zelensky at the end of February.

Zheleznyak said that Ukraine lacks several hundred billion hryvnias for military spending this year, and that is why officials are promoting the idea of cashback.

The MP is convinced that starting in mid-summer, Ukraine will have to make changes to the 2024 budget. And there it will have to find additional money for the necessary expenses. First of all, for the military.

“And given that there are not many places to take this money, certain expenses will have to be cut,” the MP concluded.
