US intelligence reports that Russia is stepping up its disinformation campaign against Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. This was reported by CNN, citing an unnamed American official.
The outlet writes that the Kremlin has been spreading disinformation about Zelensky even before the war began, but recent intelligence shows that “this information is definitely increasing.”
According to the intelligence, Russia has identified two main areas in this disinformation campaign: the retreat of Ukrainian troops from Avdiivka and the fact that Ukraine has postponed the presidential election scheduled for this spring because of the war.
At the same time, it is emphasized that the USA is more concerned about the influence of Russian disinformation on countries abroad than inside Ukraine.
