Poland's initiative: EU's “heavy brigade” for immediate response

Poland's Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses an initiative to create a "heavy brigade" in the European Union. This proposal is aimed at ensuring a rapid response to various threats without involving assistance from the United States, the РАР reports.

Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski said that the EU should strengthen its efforts in civil defense, cybersecurity and the development of "hard" means of deterrence.

He emphasized that the creation of such a brigade would allow Europe to respond immediately to any emergencies in the region, reducing dependence on the United States.

Sikorski noted that Russia's invasion of Ukraine has emphasized the need to improve Europe's defense capabilities. He compared defense to health insurance, emphasizing the importance of being prepared for possible threats.
