Wang Yi may skip Global Peace Summit for BRICS meeting: Politico report

According to Politico's sources, China's top diplomat, Wang Yi, may skip the Global Peace Summit on Ukraine to attend a BRICS meeting scheduled for the same time. The information was provided by Politico.

High-ranking EU diplomats have reported that Russia is going to hold a meeting of the BRICS countries around the same time as the peace conference on Ukraine organized in Switzerland.

It is noted that the meeting in Moscow will be held at the level of foreign ministers, which may indicate that China will not send its chief envoy Wang Yi to the Swiss meeting.

Beijing has previously informed EU diplomats that they may avoid sending high-ranking representatives to the Swiss event if Russia does not receive an invitation.

In addition to Russia and China, the BRICS also includes Brazil, India, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Iran, the UAE, Egypt, and Ethiopia.
