Russia Launches New Military Exercises Near Ukrainian Borders

Exercises with shooting exercises involving 3,000 servicemen are taking place in the Voronezh, Belgorod, Bryansk and Smolensk regions. Marches under the influence of sabotage and reconnaissance groups of the conditional enemy are being practiced. This was reported by the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry on Tuesday, January 11.

It is pointed out that about three thousand servicemen of the Guards Red Banner All-Arms Army of the Western Military District are involved in the exercises.

"The main focus of the tactical exercises will be to carry out check firing exercises from small arms and armored vehicles, to organize marches under the active influence of sabotage and reconnaissance groups of the conventional enemy and to equip strongholds," the Russian Ministry of Defense said in a statement.

Totally about 300 units of military equipment will be involved in the exercises including T-72B3 tanks and BMP-2 armored infantry fighting vehicles.

It should be noted that the spokesman of the State Border Service Andrei Demchenko said that no movement of equipment or troops near the borders of Ukraine is observed.

"Ukrainian border guards continue to intensify their service on the border with Russia. Near the border in the adjacent territory we do not observe any movement of equipment or troops of the Russian Armed Forces. At the same time, we take into account in our operational and service activities information related to military exercises in the Russian Federation," he said.
