Power supply restored at ChNPP: all cooling systems will work

Power supply has been restored at the Chernobyl NPP. All cooling systems will work in the normal mode. This was reported by Energoatom.

According to Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Galushchenko, today, thanks to the incredible efforts of specialists of NEC "Ukrenergo," our nuclear specialists and electricians managed to restore power supply to the Chernobyl NPP, which was seized by the Russian occupants.

"Our Ukrainian power engineers, risking their own health and lives, were able to prevent the risk of a possible nuclear catastrophe that threatened all of Europe. Now the cooling systems of spent nuclear assemblies will work again in the normal mode, not from the backup power.

I emphasize that Chernobyl is a Ukrainian energy facility and we do not need any help from anyone to ensure or resume power supply to our facilities," the statement reads.

Minister Galushchenko again urged the international community to help protect nuclear facilities.

"So once again I appeal to our international partners, the European Commission, the IAEA, the UN, the OSCE: help us protect the nuclear facilities! It is now imperative to force the enemy to leave the nuclear power plant and establish a 30-kilometer demilitarized zone around Ukraine's nuclear power facilities," he wrote.
