Next package of sanctions against Russia will not include gas embargo - Austrian Chancellor

The European Union will not introduce a gas embargo into the next package of sanctions against Russia. This was stated by Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer, Vienna Online reports.

"Gas is quite different from oil when it comes to security of supply. Russian oil is much easier to compensate ... Gas is quite different, so the gas embargo will not be an issue in the next package of sanctions," Nehammer said.

Recall that EU leaders at the May 30 summit reached a political agreement on a partial oil embargo against Russia, allowing "temporary" supplies through a pipeline.
