Ukraine maintains course for integration into NATO - statement after the summit

The official Kyiv believes that Ukraine already meets the standards of NATO and keeps the course for further integration. This was stated by Deputy Chairman of the OP Igor Zhovkva on Wednesday, writes UNN.

Zhovkva, who heads the Ukrainian delegation at the summit, said that he was satisfied with the results of the summit, and also stressed that Kiev maintains the course to join the Alliance.

"No one removes from the agenda the Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine," he stressed.

Igor Zhovkva stressed that he sees new opportunities for Ukraine to invite Sweden and Finland to NATO membership, bypassing the MAP mechanism.

"We have taken note of such an opportunity," the official said, explaining that it provides an opportunity for other applicant states as well.

The deputy head of the OP is also convinced that Ukraine is already compatible with the standards of the Alliance.

"At the moment, during the war, it is difficult to claim that Ukraine does not meet the standards of NATO - it is about strategy or tactics of military action. Ukraine is fighting a war, if not the second army in the world, but not the weakest. And we prove that every day we are mutually compatible with NATO standards," he said.

Zhovkva stressed that NATO membership remains the best security guarantee for Ukraine.
