Europol said that there were signs of arms smuggling from Ukraine

The European Police Office (Europol) states that there are signs of arms smuggling from Ukraine. This was stated by the Europol spokesman, Jap Op Gen Oort, reports Spiegel.

According to him, there have been recorded cases of black market trade in firearms and military goods.

Also, he noted, investigators from EU countries found "signs of trafficking in heavy military weapons," without specifying what kind of weapons they were talking about.

"There is a risk that the weapons will fall into the hands of organized criminals or terrorists," the speaker said.

According to him, it has been observed that people have been leaving Ukraine with firearms. There is also concern that weapons and ammunition are stored along the border for smuggling into the EU.

Earlier, Europol's concerns were reported by German broadcaster SWR. The channel cited a confidential letter that investigators said "criminal networks are active in the region and are carrying out or planning to smuggle significant quantities of firearms and ammunition, including military weapons."

At the same time, the EU said that the information about "arms smuggling" from Ukraine was massive Russian propaganda.
