Europol denied arms smuggling from Ukraine: full confidence in the government

After statements about alleged cases of arms smuggling from Ukraine, Europol stated that it fully trusts the Ukrainian government. Europol said in a statement.

"Europol works closely with Ukrainian officials to reduce the threat of arms trafficking into the European Union. We have full confidence in them as they implement new measures to monitor and trace these firearms," the statement said.

It is noted that Ukraine continues to cooperate with Europol on cases of interest to EU internal security despite continued Russian military aggression.

Europol believes that the potential threat that has been observed in war zones in the past is that firearms could fall into the wrong hands.

"Regarding the war in Ukraine, Europol has warned that the proliferation of firearms and explosives in Ukraine could lead to an increase in firearms and ammunition entering the EU through established smuggling routes or online platforms. This threat may be even greater once the conflict is over," the report noted.
