Estonia proposes to include a visa ban in the package of EU sanctions against Russia

Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Reinsalu proposed to include a visa ban in the next package of EU sanctions against Russia. This is reported by Bloomberg.

According to him, the ban on issuing visas to Russians should be included in the next package of sanctions against Russia, and this topic was discussed during his visit to Kyiv.

"We must raise the price of Russian aggression through additional sanctions, weapons and the increasing isolation of Russia," the diplomat said.

Note that Estonia has already suspended the issuance of tourist, work and student visas for Russian citizens. Some EU countries have also introduced relevant restrictions, but there is no consensus on this among all members of the bloc yet.

Reinsalu stressed that he is looking for support in anticipation of a new package of sanctions, which will be prepared at the end of August. At the same time, he wants to go further and require Russians to sign a document condemning the invasion of Ukraine when they enter the country.
