Borrell expects that the EU ministers will give the "green light" to the training mission of the Ukrainian military

EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security Josep Borrell expects that at the meeting in Prague, the ministers will reach a political agreement on the training mission of the European Union for the Ukrainian military.

He said this before the start of the meeting of defense ministers of EU countries in Prague.

"Ukraine needs support, and we will continue to provide it both in the form of military equipment and what the ministers will talk about - the creation of a high-level mission to train the Ukrainian military," Borrell said, noting that for him this is the most important part of the meeting.

According to him, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine will also take part in the discussion.

"Today is an informal meeting, so no decisions can be made. But a general, political agreement is what, in my opinion, we can get today. Today, I hope, we will get a political green light for this mission," he said the head of European diplomacy and added that the details of the mission will be made public later.

Earlier, the mass media reported that the European Union offers training of snipers, demining specialists and officers as part of its mission to train Ukrainian servicemen in neighboring countries.

It will be recalled that the program of training of the Ukrainian military on British territory was offered to Volodymyr Zelenskiy by British Prime Minister Boris Johnson during his visit to Kyiv in June. Then the British Prime Minister specified that the military of the United Kingdom can provide training for up to 10,000 Ukrainian servicemen every 120 days.

Finland, Sweden, Canada, Denmark, Norway, the Netherlands and New Zealand also announced their participation in the training of the Ukrainian military.
