Crimea will not be autonomous after deoccupation - Podolyak

Podolyak spoke about the status of Crimea and its Ukrainization.

Mykhailo Podolyak, adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, does not deny that after the deoccupation of Crimea, its autonomous status will be taken away. This was reported by UNIAN on May 8.

Podoliak explained that the existence of autonomies within the unitary state is a breeding ground for separatist sentiments.

"Obviously, after receiving autonomy, you subconsciously consider yourself to be somehow better than other regions. I believe that for a unitary state, autonomy is a dangerous path, it is a path to conflict at the regional level. I don't think that after the vaccinations we received , we must follow this path," he said.

Podolyak emphasized that Ukraine has ethnic minorities whose rights must be respected, in particular the Crimean Tatars.

Regarding the Ukrainization of Crimea, according to Podoliak, for this, it is necessary to create a high-quality cultural product that will be interesting at the international level.

Russia occupied Crimea after a forceful blockade by Ukrainian military units and an illegal referendum on March 16, 2014. The annexation of the peninsula to the Russian Federation is not recognized by Ukraine and most countries of the world.

The Ukrainian authorities have repeatedly stated that they aim to de-occupy all Ukrainian territories captured by Russia since 2014, including Crimea.
