Zelenskyy spoke about a possible Trump presidency: One person cannot influence the whole nation

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky is confident that the United States will continue to support the country if Donald Trump wins the upcoming presidential elections. This was announced by the head of the Ukrainian state in Davos, Switzerland.

Answering a question about relations between the two countries if Trump is elected president, Zelensky said that "in any case, this is the choice of the American people and only that."

"And Ukraine will work in partnership with the president elected by the United States of America," he emphasized.

At the same time, the President spoke about some of the voices of American politicians regarding the possible reduction of support for Ukraine.

"Certainly, some voices, radical voices from the Republican side are heard and they strain Ukrainian society. Sometimes we are surprised, and sometimes society is just afraid. Some risky slogans are part of the US election policy, I understand that," Zelensky said.

The Head of State drew attention to the effect of such "pre-election theses" in the United States on the perception of Ukrainian citizens.

"It is so painful during the war. You know, it's getting more and more painful. And every word hurts, and sometimes it kills. Because you perceive everything as if it were a war.... That's why some radical voices are tense, they scare society. And so I would very much like it to be just the opinion of individual voices, not a significant part of the Republicans," Zelensky said.

In this context, he recalled that during his visit to the United States last autumn, or when American congressmen, senators, representatives of the two parties came to Ukraine, he "never heard any support from them."

"And when the election process is underway, unfortunately, I hear such voices. And so we are ready to work with everyone, but I want to tell you frankly that we respect the American people. And I think that one person cannot change the whole nation," Zelensky said.
