State-owned enterprise suffers cyber attack: more than 2000 computers are affected

A Ukrainian state-owned enterprise suffered a cyberattack. More than 2,000 computers were affected. This was reported by the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine.


"The governmental team for responding to computer emergencies of Ukraine CERT-UA, which operates under the State Special Communications Service, provided practical assistance to the state-owned enterprise," the statement said.


It is noted that the company's computers were massively affected by the DIRTYMOE (PURPLEFOX) malware, which provides remote access to affected devices.


The team analyzed the received malware samples, established the peculiarities of the control server infrastructure and identified more than 2000 affected computers in the Ukrainian segment of the Internet. The described activity is tracked under the UAC-0027 identifier.
