A rather difficult situation awaits us in the near future, - Budanov

Ukraine will face a "rather difficult" situation in the near future. The head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence, Kyrylo Budanov, said this in an interview with the BBC.

"We are facing a rather difficult situation in the near future, according to our assessment. But it is not catastrophic, and this should also be understood. Armageddon is not going to happen, as many people are now starting to say. But there will be problems starting in mid-May," Budanov said.

Budanov clarified that it is not only about the frontline, but also about the internal political situation.

"This is a complex approach, because the Russians will use a complex approach. They are conducting a complex operation. We will not talk about it for a long time, but it will be a difficult period," the head of military intelligence said.

According to Budanov, the difficult period will be in mid-May and early June.

In addition, the head of the GUR believes that the conflict between Ukraine and Russia will be "permanent".

According to him, the current war will end after the Ukrainian Armed Forces reach the 1991 border, but then "this conflict will constantly appear, subside, reappear, and so on."

"Look at our history. We have been making peace and fighting with the Russian Federation, the Russian Empire, the Muscovy, etc. all our lives. We will not be able to change the course of history in the future," Budanov said.
