French President Emmanuel Macron believes that the Minsk agreements are the only way to resolve the conflict in eastern Ukraine and come to a sustainable peace.

"I discussed these issues with President Putin yesterday, and he confirmed his intentions to continue implementing the Minsk agreements. I also heard from you today that you are also willing to implement these agreements. It seems to me that for today that is the only way to go to a sustainable peace," he said at a press conference in Kiev on Tuesday.

Macron added that the Minsk agreements act as a tool to protect the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Meanwhile, France and Germany will continue to work as mediators to resolve the conflict in the Donbas, French President Emmanuel Macron also said.

"France and Germany will continue to mediate in order to resolve the conflict. Together we confirmed still with Chancellor Merkel to continue discussions in the Normandy Quartet format at the level of leaders of states," Macron said at a press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kiev on Tuesday.
