Liz Truss says Britain will support Ukraine until victory
Britain continues to support Ukraine in its war against Russian Federation, at the forefront of a global effort to bring dictator Vladimir Putin closer to collapse. The United Kingdom plans to further increase pressure on Russia, not stopping until our country is victorious.
British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss wrote about this in an article for European Truth. She pointed to the horrors and the scale of Putin's barbarism, revealed after Russian troops retreated from cities such as Irpen and Bucha.
Truss stressed that Britain would support any investigation by the International Criminal Court into the Russian army's war crimes against Ukrainian civilians.
In addition, the country was one of the first to hit the Putin regime with painful sanctions and is trying its best to alleviate the humanitarian disaster caused by Putin's war, the British minister said.
"Britain is proud to be the first country in Europe to supply weapons to the people of Ukraine," she stressed, referring primarily to anti-tank
Among the further necessary steps in the war against Putin's aggression, Truss named the following
Doubling down on what has already embarrassed Putin - sanctions against his regime and meaningful weapons for Ukraine;
To crack down on those who finance the war:
"We hit 16 Russian banks with sanctions, and we're going to stop importing Russian oil this year. We will take on other industries that are involved in this terrible war, such as the diamond industry," the minister stressed.
The Russian government will have to crack down on the regime with additional sanctions.
Truss recalled that they have already been imposed on favorites and close friends of Putin, such as Maria Zakharova, Sergei Brilev and many other propagandists who spread fake news. Colonel General Mikhail Mizintsev, nicknamed "the butcher of Mariupol" for leading the barbaric siege of the city, has also been sanctioned.
"We are tightening the screws on Russian oligarchs by stopping their planes and arresting their superyachts. They won't be able to wash their hands of this illegal invasion," Truss added.
She assured that Britain will not stop supporting Ukraine.
We have a moral obligation to act, so the UK is providing 220 million pounds of humanitarian support to Ukraine," she stressed.
In addition, trucks have been sent to Ukraine:
Trucks of food and water to help towns surrounded by Putin's troops, with the first deliveries arriving this week;
more than 13 planes with medical supplies and medical equipment. Fifteen fire trucks and 40,000 sets of equipment from the U.K. fire and rescue services arrived in Ukraine last week.
"Now is the time to stay the course. Together we will not stop until Ukraine wins and Putin collapses," stressed the British minister.
